General Purpose

An Equipment Operator are assigned to construction crews who work to install or replace Water, Sewer or other wet utility infrastructure.  Your duties involve operating specialized equipment and earth movers.  Operators use a variety of equipment and machinery to safely move earth, equipment, tools and materials to and from construction sites.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment such as: skid steers, backhoe, dozer, road grater, track hoe and more

• Install water, sewer or other wet utility infrastructure using heavy equipment

• Operate equipment in narrow space, such as an alleyway

• Load and unload equipment and materials

• Other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge, Qualification, & Experience

Education: No specific requirements.

Experience:

• Proven record of safely operating a skid steers, backhoe, dozer, road grater, track hoe and more

• Skill to operate equipment in close proximity to workers, buildings, overhead power lines, underground utilities, etc.

• Possess a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence

• Have a strong sense of personal responsibility

Working Environment

• Worksites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditons

• Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50 lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
