General Purpose

To help in all aspects of bidding, estimating, and project management of Underground Wet Utility such as water, sewer, and storm drain projects.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze documents and plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project

  • Prepare material estimates and cost estimates for the project(s)

  • Manage project progress and budget

  • Analyze procedures for continuous process improvement

  • Managing bids from vendors and other contractors

  • Work with superintendents to assist with project schedules, initiate change order requests and other project correspondence

  • Provide accurate project revenue streams, including extra work items, change orders, credits, procurement of material, etc.

  • Using bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis

  • Presenting prepared estimates to management

  • Get required permits for the job

  • Work closely with management on current and upcoming projects

  • Work with engineers on making sure paperwork, contracts, subcontracts are signed, turned in and completed in a timely manner.

  • Customer Service

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Skills, Knowledge, Qualification, & Experience

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in relevant construction trade

  • Knowledge Water, Sewer, and Storm Drain Projects

  • Mathematical skills to calculate lines and grades correctly, and order/import materials

  • Knowledge of project requirements, specifications, permits and drawings

  • Ability to layout, schedule and adhere to strict project schedules

  • Good Written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret plans, and specifications from various agency's supplements and scopes of work

  • Interpersonal skill to negotiate key business strategies, contracts and agreements

  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service by answering questions, providing accurate information and responding to requests in a timely manner

  • Ability to travel as dictated by business needs

 

Working Environment

  • Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late, when necessary

  • Extended amounts of time working at a desk and/or drafting table

  • Possible lengthy amounts of time using a computer and other technology
